original sin, the sequel

THE LIE OF THE APPLE CONTINUES
(or… Poor Apple; it got a bad wrap again)…

My husband came home with a few groceries this afternoon and wanted to show me the lovely apples he’d gotten. I was taken aback by the bag that held the apples. Could it be? Was a movement starting? The plastic bag was partly brown paper! Perhaps this was a movement toward the old wonderful paper bag! And then I got up close to look the new bag in the eye. The whole thing was plastic… even the paper bag!

We’re not going to change as a species, are we? As Carlo Rovelli proposes in ‘Seven Brief Lessons on Physics’: We’re a short-lived genus of species, and… we do harm.

“I’ll have mine in that cute eco-looking bag, please.”
